Stormy Saturday across Western Washington
SEATTLE- A system of low pressure that's been keeping the Pacific Northwest unseasonably chilly this week is finally on the move. As it crosses over Western Washington the center of that instability is crossing right over our region. We've been tracking isolated thunderstorms from Poulsbo down to Portland all afternoon in the Q13 Weather Center. Some of these storms have reportedly had nickel sized hail stones. Converging winds between Everett and Seattle have given the atmosphere some additional lift in some cells that have now developed in northern Seattle neighborhoods extending into southern Snohomish Co. near Bothell. The safest place to be in a thunderstorm is inside. Make sure your important electronic devices are on a surge protector as well. You can download the Q13 Weather App that has a great feature that tells you when lightning is within striking distance. These storms are expected to diminish in intensity as the sun sets and we lose the daytime heating component in the atmosphere. Still showers will continue overnight. I'll have the very latest on the forecast on JoeTV at 9pm and Q13 News at 10. For more immediate alerts you can follow me on twitter. My handle there is @Q13Tim. - Tim Joyce, Q13 Meteorologist
