Stranger abducts 5-year-old Everett girl from her own bedroom
EVERETT - It’s a parent’s worst nightmare come true, a stranger abducts a young girl from her own home while her father was asleep early Saturday morning.
The abduction was caught on surveillance camera monitoring an apartment complex on 112th St SE in Everett.
“He was wearing a dark colored shirt, light colored pants, light colored shoes,” said Everett Police Spokesperson Aaron Snell.
The man broke in through the window of a first floor apartment and snatched the girl right out of her own bedroom at around 3 a.m.
“It’s scary, plain and simple it’s scary,” said Everett resident Katherine Rohr.
“This is the worst nightmare, I heard the screen door was cut,” said resident Zeke Barkley.
For several seconds the surveillance video shows the man carrying the girl over his shoulder, disappearing into the darkness.
“It appears he came onto the Interurban trail with the intentions to sexual assault the 5 year-old for some reason that didn’t occur and he ran off,” said Snell.
From the Interurban trail the girl made her way to Tessera Apartments on Bruskrud Road, half a mile away from her home. She knocked on an apartment unit and the resident called 911.
“Maybe he got scared and allowed her to get away maybe he had second thoughts,” said Barkely.
“I’m really thankful, she is ok I hope they catch that guy,” said neighbor Joebert Saradpon.
Saradpon says his daugther is friends with the 5-year-old girl and he provided the surveillance video to Everett Police.
Residents here say minor crime is the norm but an abduction of this magnitude is shocking.
“It’s horrifying it’s premeditated I don’t know how someone could be this sick this guy needs help,” said Barkley.
The little girl was abducted for about an hour and half before she made her way to Tessera Apartments. The father had no idea his daughter was missing until police knocked on his door. The suspect is still on the run as of Saturday night.
He is described as a short man with a normal build and dark skin. He was also wearing white earrings. If you have any information call Everett Police Department’s tip line at (425) 257-8450.
