Suspect on the run after stealing, crashing two cars in police chase
SUMNER -- Police are searching for a suspect that allegedly burglarized at least one home and stole two cars while on the run from pursuing police.
According to the Sumner Police Department, officers got a call about multiple burglaries in Seattle early Tuesday morning. The suspect stole a car that was spotted in the Skyway area, and was chased by police. The pursuit ended in Sumner when the suspect left the car in the 4500 block of E. Valley Highway E, fled, and stole another car, police said.
The second stolen car was spotted a short time later, and pursued by police. The suspect again crashed, this time near the Sumner Sound Transit tracks. The driver then fled on foot.
No one was injured in the collisions.
Sound Transit trains were halted for about 15 minutes around 5 a.m., King County sheriff's deputies said.
A K9 search of the Sumner area did not find the suspect, police said. Little information about the suspect was immediately known.
Anyone who has more information on the burglaries or police chase should call 911. Sumner and Seattle police are assisting the King County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
