Suspect sought in home invasion attack
SEATTLE -- Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman while she was cooking dinner inside her home Monday in the Central District.
The woman was preparing food in the 700 block of 26th Avenue when she heard a knock on the door, Seattle police said. Her young son unlocked the deadbolt and was going to open the door when a man tried to force his way in the home, breaking the second lock and bursting in to the room. The man grabbed the woman, police said, before she was able to get away from him, pick up her son and run to her neighbor's house.
A woman walking by the home at the time of the assault approached the door to ask what was going on, police said. The suspect left the house and told the witness "it was an accident" before he fled the scene.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect is described as Hispanic or Middle Eastern, in his 20s or 30s, tall with a slim build and light facial hair.
Anyone with information on the attack should call 911.
