Tacoma man, 59, drowns in Skykomish River

MONROE, Wash. -- The Snohomish County Sheriff's office says they have recovered the body of a 59-year-old Tacoma man who drowned in the Skykomish River on Saturday.

Officers were called to Al Borlin Park in Monroe around 9 p.m. Saturday. The sheriff's office dive team was then called to the scene and recovered the man's body about an hour after the call came out.

Deputies said the man was swimming with family members at the park. When the family rounded a curve in the river, they looked back and did not see their family member.

Witnesses told investigators they had seen the man jumping from the Lewis Street trestle earlier in the day.

The name of the drowning victim has not been released.
