Vader man gets nearly 35 years for child's death
CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) — A Vader man accused of killing a 3-year-old boy in his care has been sentenced to nearly 35 years in prison.
The Daily News of Longview reports that 26-year-old Danny Wing of Vader was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Superior Court for the death of Jasper Henderling-Warner.
He and his wife, Brenda, pleaded guilty earlier this year to first-degree manslaughter and other charges in the boy's death at their Vader home on Oct. 5.
The boy's mother has said she left him in the couple's care for several weeks last year while she tried to find a job and quit drugs.
An autopsy showed the boy suffered extensive abuse before his death. Prosecutors said the boy had contracted a bacterial infection from wounds that the couple had inflicted upon him.
Brenda Wing was to be sentenced Friday but her hearing was postponed.
