Weekend closures could snarl traffic
SEATTLE-- A trio of closures this weekend could tie up traffic around Puget Sound. The Alaskan Way Viaduct will shut down for its semiannual safety inspection.
All lanes in both directions of the Viaduct will be closed between South Spokane Street and the Battery Street Tunnel from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. A similar closure will occur Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Additionally, crews working on the Mercer Corridor Project will close a section of SR 99 north of downtown from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Westbound SR 520 will also close from 11 p.m Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from 92nd Avenue Northeast to Montlake Boulevard in Seattle to continue work on the West Connection Bridge project.
