Winter weather advisory in effect through 6 am Monday
TACOMA- Icy roads, cold temperatures, snow, slush - all a recipe for your Monday morning commute. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the Tacoma area, southwest interior and east Puget Sound lowlands.
The advisory is in effect until 6 am Monday, the NWS reported.
Light snow will fall though early Monday morning, with a mix of sleet or freezing rain, before turning to rain in the afternoon, the NWS reported.
Snow fall may be 1 to 2 inches, with minor ice accumulations possible south and east of Tacoma after midnight Sunday.
Roads will become slippery as temperatures will likely stay near or below freezing - for the I - 5 corridor from the King and Pierce county lines southward, the NWS reported.
The Washington State Patrol responded to numerous vehicle accidents throughout Sunday, throughout the Puget Sound.
