Woman 'living on light' decides to start eating again

SEATTLE -- Naveena Shine, the local woman who has eschewed food for tea with milk, water and sunlight for the past 45 days, says she is going to give up her "Living on Light" experiment and starting eating food again.

In a posting on her Facebook page Sunday, Shine said she needs to end her "experiment" mainly due to the fact that on Wednesday her telephone and Internet service will be cut off due to non-payment.

Shine had been soliciting donations on her website, and while it can be inferred that she needed money for living expenses, it's never clearly specified what the money would have been used for.

Shine, an author of fantasy fiction as well as a biographical account of her journey hitchhiking around the world in 1971, explains that "Living on Light" is "not about not eating," but rather an attempt to capture another level of consciousness in which food is unnecessary for survival.

Shine's theories and her evasiveness about her ultimate goal is somewhat suspect -- "I choose now not to provide the proof, even if I could. It is way too dangerous," she said.

But in the end, it's probably a good thing she's willing to eat again.

Here's are some of the videos Shine's released about her "journey," including an interview with her.
