Jake Wiederrich
Jake Wiederrich, a national award-winning television producer, is Vice President & News Director of KCPQ and KZJO, the FOX Television Stations duopoly in Seattle, WA. He oversees all editorial, business and administrative functions in the FOX 13 newsroom.
Jake joined FOX 13 in June 2021. Since then, he has earned national media recognition for major rebranding campaigns. In September 2021, he oversaw the station-wide change from "Q13FOX" to "FOX 13 Seattle." In April 2022, he executed a successful relaunch of FOX 13's dominant morning news program under the new name "Good Day Seattle." Jake was also Executive Producer at KTVU and KICU, the FOX Television Stations duopoly in the San Francisco Bay Area. For three years, he led coverage of several Northern California wildfires, the COVID-19 pandemic, and launched the station's "Zip Trips" franchise.
Jake spent nine years as Producer, and later Executive Producer, at KIRO 7 in Seattle. During that time, he was the station's principal producer for breaking news, election coverage, special events and live sports. Jake traveled with the Seattle Seahawks to two consecutive Super Bowl appearances. He also produced the station's annual Seafair coverage, which included the 4th of July Fireworks at Lake Union, the Torchlight Parade, and Seafair Sunday. He earned an Emmy Award for producing eight hours of special coverage of the deadly shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in 2014. His 2011 newscast chronicling the overturned Italian murder conviction of Amanda Knox earned him a National Headliner Award and an Emmy nomination. He also produced coverage of several severe winter storms, law enforcement murder memorials and the inaugural flight of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger plane.
Jake began his career at KPTV and KPDX, the Meredith Corp. duopoly in Portland, OR. During that time, he was a producer of "Good Day Oregon, and later, the station's marquee "The 10 O'Clock News." Jake holds a bachelor's degree in communication studies from the University of Portland, where he was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Beacon.
