'Live Life Beautifully': local event combines fashion with awareness

SEATTLE -- Gene Juarez Salons and Spas is turning the runway into a good cause: 'Live Life Beautifully' celebrates fashion AND heart health by supporting The Hope Heart Institute. Survivors will join models on the runway for the event at Seattle's EMP on November 12th.

Gene Juarez CEO Scott Missad and stroke survivor Jackie Carr joined us on set to talk about the event. For Scott, he tells us they're in the business of helping women feel good about themselves, and extending that to heart health by celebrating survivors and raising awareness just makes perfect sense. For Jackie, having survived a stroke several years ago, it serves as a platform for urging women, especially mothers, to take charge of your own health and put yourself first, even when it can be difficult to do so.
