Key Sounders may miss time on East Coast trip
TUKWILA - Sounders FC players Clint Dempsey, Jordan Morris and Brad Evans could be missing some key games when the team heads out on the East Coast later this month.
All three players are included in the United States national team preliminary roster for Copa America Centenario.
Sounders FC head coach, Sigi Schmid said that national team training could cost the players to miss time during a two-game trip on May 28 at New England and June 1 at D.C. United.
National team coach Jurgen Klinsmann submitted the preliminary roster for Copa America on Sunday. All the players on the final 23-man roster must come from this preliminary roster.
Copa America is the soccer championship of South America. For this centennial edition, the tournament will be played in the United States and will include six teams from CONCACAF.
Three matches will be played at CenturyLink Field: Haiti-Peru on June 4, Argentina-Bolivia on June 14 and a quarterfinal match June 16.
