Late goal from Jordan Morris gives Sounders much-needed win

SEATTLE – Well that was certainly a close one.

The Seattle Sounders beat the Columbus Crew in front of 39,473 fans at CenturyLink Field on Saturday afternoon thanks to a Jordan Morris goal in the 88th minute.

“He gave us everything he had,” coach Sigi Schmid said after the match. “He missed one day of practice this week but he came back, stuck with it. He helps our team and makes a difference. “

Morris’ third goal of the season gave him the team lead.

The Sounders earned three badly needed points, moving to 3-1-4 on the season.

"It's a good feeling,  Morris said. "What matters are the three points. The last few games were tough for us, so it's good to get back on the right streak."

Columbus dropped to 2-2-4.

Up next for Seattle is a match next Saturday at CenturyLink Field against San Jose. The match will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on the home of the Sounders, Q13 FOX.
