Seahawks go with an offensive lineman in first round: Texas A&M's Germain Ifedi
SEATTLE – And in the end, the Seahawks went with an offensive tackle after all.
The Seahawks picked Texas A&M tackle Germain Ifedi with the No. 31 overall pick, making a move to shore up an offensive line that was one of the worst in the NFL for much of last year.
The Seahawks traded down earlier in the first round, swapping their No. 26 pick to Denver for No. 31 and a third-rounder.
Ifedi has a monstrous frame, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 324 pounds with 36-inch-long arms.
"I don't think I could've landed at a better place than Seattle," Ifedi said. "Y'all have a great organization and one of my mentors from my freshman year, Patrick Lewis - it's amazing."
He played guard in 2013, then moved to right tackle in 2014 and 2015.
The draft continues Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with rounds 2 and 3. The Seahawks have one pick in the second round (No. 56 overall) and three in the third (Nos. 90, 94 and 97 overall).
