Seahawks rookie quarterback Trevone Boykin charged with assault for December bar incident
SAN ANTONIO – Trevone Boykin, a rookie quarterback signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in May, has been charged with assault in connection with an incident at a bar last December.
Boykin, who was still in college at TCU at the time, will be arraigned Aug. 1, just two days after the Seahawks open training camp.
Boykin has been expected to be the leading candidate to back up Russell Wilson next season.
Last week, former Seahawks backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was charged with aggravated assault in Florida after he allegedly pointed a loaded gun at his wife and threatened to kill her.
Boykin faces up to a year in jail if convicted. The Seahawks didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
Jake Heaps and Boykin are the quarterbacks behind 2014 Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson.
