Seahawks waive former starting center Drew Nowak, along with four others

SEATTLE -The Seattle Seahawks released Drew Nowak. Again.

The Seahawks waived five players on Wednesday, including Drew Nowak, who began last season as the team's starting center.

Seattle also waived Nowak last December,  but nobody picked him up so he rejoined the team as a practice-squad member. He started seven games, but was replaced as the starter by Patrick Lewis halfway through last season.

Seattle also drafted a center last week, selecting Texas Christian's Joey Hunt in the sixth round.

Seattle also waived running back Cameron Marshall, tight end Ronnie Shields, linebacker Josh Shirley and receiver Tyler Slavin.

The moves come ahead of this weekend's rookie minicamp.
