Sounders fall in disappointing outing in Colorado
SEATTLE - The Sounders FC fell 3-1 Saturday night to the Western Conference opponent the Colorado Rapids. Despite Jordan Morris scoring in his second straight match and Stefan Frei coming up with a huge penalty kick save, the Rapids prevailed.
Seattle played without both Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez. The two designated players did not travel with the team after both suffered some muscle tightness that limited them in training late in the week.
Herculez Gomez made his first start since joining the club last month.
Brad Evans was ejected in the 86th minute after Kyle Doyle scored the Rapids third goal. Replay clearly shows Doyle was offsides but no call was made. Evans was protesting the goal when he was given the red card. He will now miss the Sounders next match as a result.
