The Associated Press and FOX News project Joe Biden has won the presidency after a tight race against his Republican opponent, incumbent President Donald Trump, in the 2020 election.

Now, Biden has to build a government while contending with a Senate that could stay in GOP hands, a House sure to feature fewer Democratic allies and a public that includes more than 70 million people who would prefer that President Donald Trump keep the job.

"I just talked to the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden," Bush said in a statement. "I extended my warm congratulations and thanked him for the patriotic message he delivered last night."

Stacey Abrams spent years working to convince political power players that Georgia is a genuine two-party battleground, a Deep South state where the left could compete if it organized Black voters, other sporadic voters and stopped apologizing for being Democrats.

Jill Biden has worked as a public school teacher for more than 20 years, earned two master’s degrees and then a doctorate in education. She continued teaching at a community college when her husband, Joe Biden, was vice president.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were projected as the winners of the White House Saturday, and around the world, celebrities, politicians, athletes and millions of voters reacted Biden clinching the presidency after FOX News and the Associated Press projected that Biden would take the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Saturday's election verdict isn't the last step in selecting an American president.

After the ballots were counted, Harris became the country’s first Black and first female second-in-command. She will be inaugurated along with president-elect Biden on Jan. 20.

The video footage, posted to Harris’ Twitter account, showed her congratulating Biden over the phone with a wide smile.
