New Seattle tiny-home organizers promise 'no drugs, no alcohol' after neighbors express concern

SEATTLE --  Some community members are concerned what a new tiny home village off of Yesler Way and 18th Avenue will mean for their neighborhoods.Tuesday, community leaders held a meeting to discuss plans for a tiny home village.The village will hold 38 8x12 heated homes.

TACOMA, Wash. – As the homeless crisis in our region continues to grow, hundreds of people living without shelter in and around Tacoma lined up Tuesday for a job fair.The job fair comes nearly one week after Pierce County cleared a massive homeless camp that was getting a lot of complaints from neighbors and businesses about theft in the Puyallup area.Pierce County sheriff's deputies say outreach teams offered the people living in the camp help, like access to housing and drug treatments before clearing them out along with 35 tons of waste from the property.

SEATTLE -- A new homeless count for 2018 shows that there are more people living unsheltered in Seattle than ever before.All Home, the organization that did the survey, says there are 12,112 people this year who are homeless in Seattle, compared with 11,643 in 2017.All Home says these numbers are estimates at best and that the real number could be a lot higher.But as of right now their 2018 count shows that 5,792 were sheltered and 6,320 were unsheltered.That means there are 835 more people living unsheltered this year compared to last year.

Homeless man pleads not guilty to raping woman in Seattle car dealership restroom

SEATTLE -- A 24-year-old homeless man pleaded not guilty Wednesday with raping a woman in a Seattle car dealership bathroom when she dropped her car off for repairs.Christopher Edward Teel was arrested May 14 when car dealership employees heard the assault and ran to help the woman.He was charged May 16 with first-degree rape and unlawful imprisonment.
