CAPTURED: Yakima County shooting suspect arrested

CAPTURE UPDATE --
Shooting suspect, Oscar Ibarra, was arrested by Yakima County Sheriff deputies on August 18th.

FUGITIVE WANTED IN YAKIMA COUNTY -- July 30, 2017
The hunt is on in Yakima County for Oscar Ibarra.  There is warrant for his arrest for 2 counts of First Degree Assault with $1,000,000 bail. On January 22, 2017, Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an address on Egan Lane outside of Wapato regarding a gunshot victim.  Upon arrival, deputies located a 30 year old man suffering from a gunshot wound.  Investigators processed the scene and recovered shell casings and other evidence and say they have identified Oscar Ibarra as the shooter.

Detectives say Ibarra and a 37 year old male accomplice arrived at the home and got into an argument over a woman when the shots were fired.  After shooting the male victim, detectives say Ibarra told his accomplice to shoot the woman.   Both victims survived but the woman lost a lot of blood and nearly died from her injuries.   Both suspects then fled in a black Volkswagen Jetta. The accomplice was later arrested although Ibarra has not yet been located.

Deputies say they believe he is laying low in the Wapato or Toppenish area.  Ibarra is a known gang member with a violent criminal history including felony convictions for 2nd degree Assault and 3rd degree Assault.  Ibarra has previously assaulted police and is a known drug user with a history of gun possession. Detectives say he should be considered armed and dangerous.  Ibarra has an artificial right hand and is inked with a ton of tattoos including "Maria" on his neck.
