David Santos: Accused of shooting at officers in Grant County, being armed with live hand grenade during pursuit

WANTED IN GRANT COUNTY July 3, 2015 -- David Santos is accused of firing shots at officers in Grant County on June 30th and July 3rd and having a live hand grenade. Video from iFIBER One News showed law enforcement swarming the area near Royal City where Santos was last seen on July 3rd. The manhunt led to a lockdown as deputies warned residents in the area to stay inside and lock their doors.

Investigators say Santos was wearing a white tank top, jeans, black hat and was driving a green 4-wheel ATV. It's believed Santos is still hiding in the Royal City area or possibly around the nearby town of Mattawa. Investigators say Santos was driving a Dodge Durango when he fired a rifle at pursuing police and escaped on June 30th. The Durango was recovered days later in an orchard near Mattawa. Investigators say Santos was driving a Ford Expedition on July 3rd when he, again, escaped from law enforcement on foot. Investigators say Santos had a live hand grenade that was was found on the ground next to the SUV after he ran. The grenade was rendered safe by the Richland Police Bomb Squad. On July 4th, a Toyota Tercel was stolen around 11am from a home near Road P-SW west of Royal City. That vehicle was recovered around 8pm near Mattawa. When it was recovered, the muzzle of an assault rifle was visible inside the car, leading investigators to believe the vehicle theft and rifle are associated with David Santos. Santos is facing the following charges:

    Santos is 5’10” and weighs 215 pounds.
