High-risk sex offender who robbed, raped 76-year-old woman — arrested

FUGITIVE CAPTURED July 4, 2015 –
William Jones was booked into the King County Jail on Saturday after Washington’s Most Wanted tips helped lead to the arrest.

KING COUNTY, Wash. -- Authorities say a convicted rapist is flying under the radar in King County.

According to the Department of Corrections, William Martin Jones, 60, failed to report as directed one day after his release in May.

Authorities said Jones broke into a woman's home while she was asleep, placed his hand over the woman's mouth and demanded she give him money. The victim gave him the money, before he proceeded to rape her.

She told police he was "very cocky and sure of himself."

Investigators matched DNA collected at the scene to Jones.

The victim also told police she believes the same man broke into her home a month earlier, covered her eyes, and robbed her.

Jones was originally released from prison in April of 2013. He cut off his GPS at the end of September 2013, and was arrested again in March of 2014. He was in prison for more than a year before his release.

William Martin Jones is described as 5' 7", 150 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He is a level 3 sex offender.
