‘Run with the Cops:' Register for fun nighttime run benefitting 'Special Olympics Washington' athletes
It's time to "Run with the Cops!" Police in Renton, Mukilteo and Puyallup all want you to come out and support the more than 10,000 Special Olympics athletes across the state in this unique nighttime 5K run. "The Run with the Cops was started in 2012 with Kennewick Police Department, and it's branched over to this side of the state last year" said Dep. Chief Ed Van Valey of the Renton Police Department. "All proceeds raised goes to the Special Olympics of Washington and it benefits the athletes. It helps provide them with food and clothing, and also lodging when they compete at their events." So be there at "The Landing" in Renton on Saturday, Sept. 27. Registration opens at 9 p.m. The run starts at 10. There's also a 'Run with the Cops' in Mukilteo the day before you can be part of. The last run of the year is a week later on Oct. 4 in Puyallup. To register and create a fundraising page to collect more donations for Special Olympics Washington, just head to their website.
