Seattle Police offering self defense training October 19th

In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Seattle Police are offering a self-defense class for one day in October -- and all for a great cause --The Seattle Police Foundation, that pays for much needed gear for the mounted patrol and officers on the street. It's on Saturday, October 19th, from 11am to 1pm, called "Rise Above Domestic Violence" "The Seattle Police Department along with our main sponsor 'zipfizz', is putting on a charity event called 'Kia Kaha', says Seattle Police Ofc. Rich Peterson. "'Kia Kaha' means 'forever strong'. We're going to be putting on a large self-defense event for our community. Participants are going to learn how to get in a good fighting stance. How to move really well with their feet. How to put their hands up and cover. How to respond back with force and punches. How to sprawl and stop somebody from taking you down to the ground. All the proceeds from this event will directly help victims of domestic violence in our city." CLICK HERE for more information, and to register.
