Suspected thief caught on video at Seattle Central Community College: Do you recognize him?

SEATTLE -- Police are asking for help identifying the man caught on surveillance video stealing a student's backpack from the library at Seattle Central Community College.

It had the victim's Hong Kong passport, cell phone and Macbook Air worth more than $1,000 inside it. That makes the crime felony theft.

"If it has a serial number, write it down and then record that information and put it in a safe place where you can go find it in case something gets stolen," said retired detective Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound who added that is the only way police know if you own the property so they can return it.

The suspect was carrying a bicycle wheel. If you recognize him, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to his arrest. Call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or go to www.crimestoppers.com to submit the suspect's name.
