18-year-old sent to hospital after Pioneer Square shooting



SEATTLE -- Detectives are investigating a Pioneer Square shooting that sent an 18-year-old to the hospital.

The shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. near the corner of 3rd Avenue and Yesler, according to Seattle PD.

When officers arrived, they found the 18-year-old victim on the ground with injuries to his hand and calf.

A 64-year-old man standing nearby said he may have been struck by shrapnel, but medics who examined him said he didn't need any additional treatment.

Officers located narcotics and a handgun and shell casings near 3rd and Yesler. No suspects have been identified.
