4 killed, at least 7 hurt in crash involving bus near Wenatchee, WA

Four people were killed and several others injured in a crash involving a bus near Wenatchee on Sunday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 17-year-old was driving westbound in a 2007 Toyota Camry, when it crossed the center line and struck a bus head-on. A third vehicle struck the other two, driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The highway was blocked and images from the scene showed a Northwestern coach missing its front windshield on the side of the highway along with a different crashed vehicle on the other side of the road.

The road was closed for 10 hours while traffic officials investigated.

Authorities confirmed the 17-year-old driver and his two passengers, ages 17 and 66, were killed in the crash, as well as a passenger on the bus who died in the hospital.

Seven people are still in the hospital.

Avoid the area:

Drivers were advised to use State Route 97 or State Route 2 as detours while the investigation and cleanup continue.

The Washington State Department of Transportation responded to manage traffic control in the area. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area if possible, as the road was expected to remain closed for several hours.
