3 Monroe firefighters injured while battling house fire
MONROE -- Three Monroe firefighters were injured battling a house fire Monday, the Monroe Fire Department said.
Two firefighters were transported by Monroe paramedics to Valley General Hospital in Monroe. One of the firefighters was being treated for heat exhaustion and the other firefighter suffered a fire ground head injury. A third firefighter received a hand injury and was also being evaluated at the hospital.
The home’s residents were working across the highway and observed smoke coming from their two-story house in the 23100 block of State Route 203, south of Monroe, the department said. None of the residents was injured.
Firefighters had to shuttle water from Duvall because there are no fire hydrants in the area.
The origin and cause of the fire is being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal. The house is a total loss, the department said.
