3 tourists attacked, robbed in downtown Seattle
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police are increasing patrols near the downtown bus tunnel after three tourists from Rhode Island were attacked and robbed.
The Seattle Times reports that two women and a man were robbed Monday by a group of people. All three were battered, but not seriously injured.
Police say the group was walking out of the bus tunnel when a woman accused one of them that she had bumped into her. The woman then tried to burn the victim with a cigarette. As that was happening, another person grabbed the victim's phone from her back pocket.
One of the tourists says she dropped a bag of bottled wine and the group of attackers used the broken bottles as weapons.
