30-year-old woman sleeping on sidewalk hospitalized after being struck by Metro bus, officials say
SEATTLE -- A woman was taken to the hospital after being hit by a King County Metro Transit bus early Monday morning.
Seattle Fire tweeted about the crash at 8:40 a.m. Monday:
Witnesses told investigators the bus pulled up to the stop and allowed people to board. They said a woman who appeared to be asleep on the sidewalk got up and stumbled in front of the bus as it drove away. She was struck, police said, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
She was transported to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.
Traffic Collision Investigators spoke with the driver and do not believe they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Traffic was cleared around 10 a.m. and all lanes were reopened.
