51-year-old man killed in Kent hit-and-run
KENT, Wash. - A man was killed in a hit-and-run in Kent early Sunday morning.
Kent Police were called to Central Avenue North and 228th Street just before 4:30 a.m. They found a 51-year-old Kent man who had been hit by a car, and was laying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive.
Officers attempted life-saving measures, followed by Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority personnel when they arrived, but the man was declared dead at the scene.
The man has been identified, but his name is being withheld while authorities contact his family.
Witnesses told police the man was crossing at a clearly marked crosswalk when a driver ran through it and hit him. Some believed the suspect also ran a red light, as well.
Officers tracked down a car a short distance away, believed to be the suspect vehicle.
