Cheerios commercial draws racist reaction

LOS ANGELES -- A recent Cheerios cereal commercial featuring a mixed-race family was the target of a racist backlash on YouTube and the company's Facebook, the Huffington Post reported.

According to the website, the ad received more than 500 dislikes and a bevy of racist comments on YouTube before the comment section was closed Thursday evening. Some commenters on the cereal's Facebook page said the ad made them "want to vomit," and expressed "shock" that a black father would stay with his family.

However, others took to the Facebook and social media outlets to praise Cheerios' decision to feature a mixed-race family. Cheerios released a statement saying the company has received more positive comments than any others about the commercial.
