One-year-old baby in critical condition after SeaTac shooting; deputies searching for suspect
A baby boy is in critical condition after being shot, and the suspect is still on the loose, King County Sheriff officials say.
SEATAC, Wash. - A baby boy is in critical condition after being shot twice in SeaTac, King County Sheriff's officials say.
Deputies are investigating a shooting in the SeaTac area where two people, including a 1-year-old, were injured.
Investigators say it happened around 10:45 Saturday morning at the 15200 block of 30th Avenue South in SeaTac, which less than a mile away from the airport.
Sergeant Tim Meyer said an adult woman and her 1-year-old grandson were shot. The woman was shot while holding the baby. Both victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center. On Sunday, the woman was released from the hospital but the child, Alijah King Solomon Simon, remained in critical condition.

"What concerns us most, and really I think is a shock to everyone in the community, certainly the gun violence we’re seeing, but our victim this morning, one of them is one years old," he said.

The suspect, 46-year-old Dion Johnson, was the child's father. Johnson reportedly lured deputies to a gas station in Skyway Sunday afternoon to surrender, but then took his own life, deputies say.
He has a lengthy criminal record with a history of domestic violence.
This is the fourth time in less than two months a child has been shot in King County.
