Chinta the Orangutan, oldest animal at Woodland Park Zoo, dies at 51

SEATTLE -- Chinta the orangutan, the oldest animal at Woodland Park Zoo, died Tuesday morning at the age of 51.

The zoo said in a release that Chinta "passed away peacefully" one day shy of her 52nd birthday. She spent her entire life at the zoo.

Chinta and her late twin brother Towan were born there in February 1968.

Towan died in 2016.
