Cranberry bogs coming to Snohomish county
SNOHOMISH - A Canadian company wants to bring cranberry bogs to Snohomish county. Golden Eagle Farms has been buying up farmland in the floodplain south of the Lowell-Snohomish River Road, The Herald of Everett reported. The company wants to turn most of its new property, about 1500 acres, into cranberry bogs. Golden Eagle Farms hopes to put Snohomish County at the forefront of the industry statewide. Washington's existing cranberry farms are small and for the most part, have been family owned, with the largest farm about 100 acres. Once up and running, the Snohomish Valley operations would employ 35 full-time workers, and 100 workers for harvest time, the Herald reported.
