Troopers investigate deadly multi-car crash on I-5 near Arlington

Troopers are investigating a deadly multi-car crash on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County.

All lanes of northbound I-5 were blocked just south of Arlington around 5 p.m. Wednesday. The road reopened to traffic just before 11 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, this is a fatality collision involving three cars.

Two cars were pulled over on the right shoulder lane and the drivers were outside their cars. 

According to investigators, another car drove onto the shoulder lane, struck one of the cars and hit the other. One of the cars struck the two drivers and one of the drivers died. 

Troopers said the other driver who was injured was taken to Providence Medical Center. The causing driver was also injured and taken to Providence Medical Center. 

According to troopers, drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
