Death of man found in Fox Island being investigated as homicide

FOX ISLAND, Wash. -- The body of a man was found lying in a ditch outside of a convenience store in Fox Island Thursday morning, and Pierce County sheriff's detectives are investigating the case as a homicide, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The victim is a 23-year-old Gig Harbor man, Troyer said.  Fox Island is about five miles from Gig Harbor.

An employee at the Fox Island Grocery & Deli found the body and told a Washington State Patrol trooper who was getting gasoline at the time.
