Desperate search for 2-year-old Idaho boy suspended
LEADORE, Idaho — Authorities in Lemhi County, Idaho have suspended their search for a two-year-old boy who apparently walked away from his family’s campsite at Timber Creek Campground near Stone Reservoir.
Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Paul Smith told the Idaho Statesman that the boy, 2-year-old Deorr Kunz, Jr., was last seen at his campsite on Friday.
The search and rescue efforts for 2-year-old Kunz Jr. have been suspended for an undetermined amount of time.
No explanation has been provided as to why the search was suspended.
Smith said a missing person report was filed around 2:30 p.m., about an hour after the boy disappeared. Crews immediately began searching.
“It appears like he just vanished,” grandmother Trina Bates Clegg toldEastIdahoNews.com.
A helicopter, search and rescue team, search dogs, Lemhi County staff, Salmon Police Department staff and volunteers are all searching the area for Kunz.
Officials said more than 150 people participated in the search Saturday. K9s were used, and several people searched on horses and ATVs.
The boy has blonde bushy hair and was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue pajama pants and cowboy boots.
