Girl, 13, robbed at gunpoint while walking to school in West Seattle, police say

SEATTLE -- A man robbed a teenage girl at gunpoint Thursday morning in Delridge, according to Seattle police.

Detectives said the 13-year-old was walking down a staircase near 20th Avenue SW and SW Holden Street when a man approached her. They said the suspect pulled out a gun and told her "give me everything you got."

The suspect patted down the teen searching for a cell phone or money, police said. He didn't find either but still took off the backpack and ran off.

Police said the girl continued walking to school and reported what happened to her.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect or the victim's backpack.

The suspect was described as a black man in his late 20s, muscular, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a purple bandana over his face.
