Girl's nosebleed saves lives of three people in an amazing story of chance

WYLIE, Texas -- What started as a simple nosebleed turned into a huge blessing for one girl's family recently in Texas, CBS DFW reports.

Crystal Enns, 14, of Wylie, Texas had such a bad nosebleed earlier this year that she decided she couldn't go to school. As the nosebleed continued throughout the day, her parents decided to take her to the emergency room. Just for a checkup.

But the pesky nosebleed soon turned into a life-altering scare, CBS DFW reports.

At the hospital and after a bevy of tests, Enns was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease that would require a transplant.

Since both parents are matching blood types and tracked as possible donors, they were screened. Crystal's mother, Cristy, discovered she had a spot on her kidney. She would need a transplant as soon as possible.

But it didn't end there. Mark, Crystal's father, soon found out he was not only not a donor, but also had kidney cancer himself. The same rare form of cancer that his daughter suffered.

He was stunned.

"The idea is that we're going to go in and do something that can be life saving for our daughter," Mark told CBS DFW. "Only to be told 'this may have saved your life,' because I never would have been tested otherwise."

Crystal, Cristy and Mark were all put on a list for kidney transplants. Crystal eventually found a donor in her aunt. She is recovering, as is her father and mother.

The strangest part of this story of coincidence? Crystal's original nosebleed wasn't even a symptom of the cancer, doctors said.
