Gov. Inslee's approval rating takes a hit
OLYMPIA, Wash -- A new poll suggests Washingtonians aren't impressed with Gov. Jay Inslee's job so far. An Elway Poll asked people about Inslee's performance during his first six months in office.
Just under half rated him ''only fair'' or ''poor.'' Forty-percent had a positive view, saying the governor was doing a ''good' or 'excellent'' job.
Analysts believe the low approval rating reflects the outcome of two special legislative sessions and the failure to pass universal background checks on gun purchases and a new transportation package.
Former Gov. Christine Gregoire's approval rating was at 43 percent during the same amount of time in office.
The poll of 406 registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percent.
