Homes evacuated after gas leak in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. -- Authorities responded to a gas leak Thursday afternoon in an Edmonds neighborhood.

Edmonds police said around 2:30 p.m. they were assisting Snohomish County firefighters.

A gas line was apparently hit in the area of 186th St SW & 85th Ave W.

Officials said some homes were being evacuated. 186th street was closed to traffic in the area.

Police said the situation was under control about an hour later, and firefighters remained at the scene.
