Husband of woman who disappeared in Lakewood worries she’s been abducted

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- It’s been nearly 48 hours since a Kirkland mom vanished from a parking lot in Lakewood. Now her husband is pleading for information that could return her unharmed.

Moua Vang, 31, was last seen selling flowers at the farmer’s market on Tuesday. Her van and many of her personal items were left behind and nobody’s heard from her since.

Lakewood Police scoured surveillance video but so far that hasn’t brought them any leads.

“Tuesday was the last time I saw her,” said Moua’s husband, Jor Chang, through a translator. “I don’t know what to do or say, I’m just worried sick.”

The Lakewood Farmers Market operates on Tuesdays in a parking lot next to Lakewood City Hall.

Vang was last seen packing up her flower booth Tuesday afternoon but by 8 p.m. her van was found still in the parking lot in disarray; the doors wide-open, her cell phone and wallet left inside. The mother of six had vanished without a trace.

“It looked like somebody had been interrupted in cleaning up their booth,” said Lt. Chris Lawler with the Lakewood Police Department. “The keys to the van were there, the wallet was still there also. That made it more suspicious.”

On Thursday. Moua’s family and husband revisited the last place she was seen. Chang said he and their children are worried sick.

“Right now I don’t know what to tell my kids,” he said. “The best I can do is comfort them and we try to keep them out of school to prevent too many questions from the kids at school.”

Chang also said he has no reason to believe his wife would abandon his family.

“My wife and I love each other and I trust her,” he said. “I don’t think she would just run away.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Their number is 1-800-222-TIPS and callers can remain anonymous.
