Man shot in parking lot of Red Robin in Des Moines; suspect waits for police

DES MOINES, Wash. -- A man was shot in the abdomen during an argument Tuesday in the parking lot of the Red Robin restaurant on Marine View Drive in downtown Des Moines, police said.

The victim and suspect knew each other and met at the Red Robin, police said, but they got into a verbal argument and then a physical fight in the parking lot.

The suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim, police said. The suspect then waited at the scene for the police to arrive.

The victim is a 40-year-old Hispanic man who was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a possible life-threatening injury.

The suspect is a white man in his 20s who was taken to Highline Hospital with a laceration or puncture wound to an arm, police said, adding that it wasn't immediately clear how he received that injury.
