Missing Thurston County sex offender, DOC ‘Top Ten’ fugitive captured in Mexico after years on run
FUGITIVE CAPTURED August 1, 2015 — Thurston County sex offender, Jason Beeching, who has been on the run since 2007 is in custody in Mexico thanks to the dedicated work of the U.S. Marshals Sex Offender Investigations Branch in Seattle. Chief Inspector Tom Lanier says due to the persistent efforts of Senior Inspector Lisa Stephenson who acted on tips from Washington's Most Wanted viewers to Crime Stoppers, Beeching was arrested in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. “The Yucatan Times” reports he had lived and worked there for five years. Beeching will now be extradited back to the U.S. to face charges. Beeching has been a fugitive since he was featured on Washington’s Most Wanted in 2009. "The Yucatan Times" says Beeching, 35, has five previous arrests in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo and this time he was detained for disorderly conduct. He was taken to the local Office of Public Security and Traffic and since he had five previous arrests for administrative offenses the authorities consulted his record on “Plataforma Mexico” (Mexico’s Law Enforcement Authorities Criminal Records Data Base) and found a search warrant issued by the Justice Department ascribed to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. Press reports indicate Beeching worked in Playa del Carmen as a tattoo artist and tours salesman using false names and even a false “IFE” ID, to ensure that was Mexican. He was also related to a local criminal group of drug dealers in Playa del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida.
