New opportunity for Tacoma students to become entrepreneurs
The Young Entrepreneurs Program in Tacoma will teach high school students how to start and run a business.
TACOMA -- Think your son or daughter could be the next Bill Gates? If so, a new program in Tacoma might be able to help them realize their dream.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is launching an after-school program that will transform high school students into entrepreneurs.
YEA! will train up to 24 high school students through the process of starting and running a legitimate business or social movement over the course of an academic year.
Instructors help the students transform their ideas into reality by networking with local business leaders. Students will learn to brainstorm business ideas, write a business plan, pitch their ideas to potential investors, obtain funding, legally register their business, participate in a trade show and launch their business.
The program is sponsored by Tacoma Public Schools and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce.
