Parents warned of possible attempted luring of middle school student

SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- Beaver Lake Middle School in Sammamish warned parents Monday of a possible attempted luring of one of its students last Friday.

The incident happened as the student was walking home from the bus stop on Klahanie Drive SE, the school said. A man described as 40 to 50 years old, pudgy, bald, with a 5 o'clock shadow and driving a dark blue four-door car stopped on the road next to the student. It was reported he tried to lure her into the car, the school said.

When the student tried to walk away, he cut her off with his car, the school said. "The student did exactly the right thing. She said no, ran away and notified her family. The family later called the police and the incident is being investigated."

The school urged parents to talk to their children about stranger safety.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Sammamish Police at 425-295-0770.
