Prepaid college tuition program won't raise prices

SEATTLE -- In good news for the state's prepaid college tuition program, the Seattle Times reported the Guarantee Education Tuition program (GET) has been given an A rating from the state actuary.

Monday the committee that oversees GET voted to keep the price of a unit at $172, the same as last year, which is good news for parents and students.

The GET program has been under serious financial pressure because of state budget problems and the state's unfunded liability was more than $630 million, a number that has now dropped to $160 million.
