A protest took to the streets in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

The Seattle Police Department reported they were cordoning off roads around the neighborhood as the protesters walked from Cal Anderson Park to Broadway. Authorities say there have been several instances of property damage, graffiti and "other reported crimes," and they will make arrests when it is safe to do so.

Local perspective:

Around 2:00 p.m., the demonstrators moved from the street onto the Seattle Central College campus. Police reported the event had concluded around 2:10 p.m.

The cause of the protest is not immediately known; FOX 13 Seattle has a crew on the way to learn more.

Authorities expect traffic to be backed up for some time, and urge people to find alternate routes.
