Sacramento City Council approves term sheet for new NBA arena
SACRAMENTO (FOX40) -- The Sacramento City Council, on a 7-2 vote, approved the term sheet for a new downtown sports and entertainment complex Tuesday night that is an integral part in their plan to keep the NBA Kings in town and prevent the team's sale to a Seattle investor group.
Mayor Kevin Johnson, Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby and council members Steve Hansen, Allen Warren, Steve Cohn and Bonnie Pannell voted yes.
Council member Jay Shenirer voted yes, calling in from a family vacation in Morocco.
Council members Kevin McCarty and Darrell Fong voted no.
“Let’s do it, Sacramento,” Johnson said as the final yes vote.
